Pimping my MacBook

I am attempting probably one of the most stupid things: pimping a MacBook ...

The patient is ready. Let's get started.

Patient is opened. Pulse is steady.

Surgery finished, patient hopefully ready to wake up ...

... however the doctor is not completely pleased with the result. Another operation is due next week...

  1. did you reinstall lion on your new hdd? did that work from the (now) external cdrom? did you update the ssd firmware with a live cd/boot stick?

    my kit and ssd will arrive soon, so i ha todo the same work...

    Before installing the new hdd I created a recovery usb stick with the Recovery Disk Assistant from Apple:

    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1433

    Then I installed the new hdd and installed Lion with the recovery usb stick.

    Also note that installing windows in a bootcamp partition does not work with the external drive. If you want to do that, you best switch the hdd and leave the cdrom internal until bootcamp is set up.

    I did not update the ssd firmware.
