did you reinstall lion on your new hdd? did that work from the (now) external cdrom? did you update the ssd firmware with a live cd/boot stick?

ReplyDeleteBefore installing the new hdd I created a recovery usb stick with the Recovery Disk Assistant from Apple:

Then I installed the new hdd and installed Lion with the recovery usb stick.
Also note that installing windows in a bootcamp partition does not work with the external drive. If you want to do that, you best switch the hdd and leave the cdrom internal until bootcamp is set up.
I did not update the ssd firmware.
